LESLIE CLAIMS SECOND CAN-AM BATTER OF THE WEEK AWARD

Little Falls, NJ – The New Jersey Jackals have announced that 1B/OF Myron Leslie has been named the Can-Am League Batter of the Week for August 17-23. Leslie also received this honor for the week ending July 26, in addition to hauling in the Batter of the Month award for June.

Leslie has recorded seven hits in his past five games, including a stellar performance against Worcester on August 19, when the slugger connected on two home runs -- one of which was inside-the-park -- and driving in four runs in the 8-5 Jackals win. For the week, the Riverview, FL native batted .364 (8-for-22) with three homers and 10 RBI while scoring six runs and even swiping a base.

Currently in his first season with the Jackals and sixth year of professional baseball, Leslie has a .268 career batting average since being drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the eighth round of the 2004 draft.

The 27-year-old switch-hitter's second weekly award is the Jackals’ sixth League Batter or Pitcher of the Week award this season. Jackals players were also awarded monthly honors three times this year, with LHP A.J. Wideman earning it twice on the mound to go with Leslie's Batter of the Month in June.

The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. The Jackals have clinched the 2009 Can-Am League first-half title and an automatic berth in the playoffs, which begin on September 9.
