SPEEDY OUTFIELDER RETURNS
The New Jersey Jackals have announced the signing of outfielder Quentin Davis for the 2010 season.
Davis, a Darlington, SC native, excelled for the Jackals in 2009 with a .344 batting average in 39 games with eight doubles, three triples and 16 RBI. His hot bat was accompanied by his speed with 11 stolen bases in 15 attempts.
“We are very excited to have Quentin back for the 2010 season,” stated Jackals field manager Joe Calfapietra. “We are looking forward to a healthy season from Quentin and hope that he continues where he left off in 2009.”
Quentin Davis signed with the Jackals on June 22 after beginning the season with the Single-A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the Atlanta Braves system. With Myrtle Beach, Davis hit .227 with two triples. Davis, who was selected by the Braves in the 13th round of the 2005 draft out of Division II Francis Marion University, spent 2008 with the Double-A Mississippi Braves. In 2007 with Myrtle Beach, the Darlington, SC native led the Carolina League with 11 triples while stealing 37 bases and batting .261. In 2007 with Single-A Rome, Davis swiped a career-high 41 bases.
