BEST ‘CASE OF THE MONDAYS’ EVER: JACKALS MAKE FAN’S RENT PAYMENTS

Little Falls, NJ – The New Jersey Jackals proudly announce that Kevin Anthopulos of Rutherford, NJ has been selected as our July 13 'Mortgage Monday' winner. He will receive two months of his rent payments -- a total of $3,000 -- from the Jackals.

“Being down on that field was the best moment of my life,” exclaimed Anthopulos following the check presentation ceremony on the field that took place after the conclusion of the Jackals heartbreaking 8-7 loss in Monday's game at Yogi Berra Stadium.

Floyd Hall, owner and chairman of the Jackals franchise, joined beloved mascot Jack the Jackal in presenting Anthopulos with the commemorative check.

“When they announced the winner,” Anthopulos recalled, “I figured it was some other Kevin, but my son insisted it was us! I almost had a heart attack right there in my seat!”

“The only thing that would have been sweeter was if the Jackals could have [finished the] comeback to win that game,” said Anthopulos, who came out to the game hoping to see the Jackals clinch the Can-Am League first-half title and a spot in the postseason.

New Jersey rallied for four runs in the eighth inning but left the bases loaded and then got shut down in the ninth, finishing on the wrong side of an 8-7 nail-biter.

Anthopulos has been attending Jackals games with his family “for about four years.” He keeps coming back for what he calls “the best entertainment around right now. The prices are reasonable, the kids can run around and even meet the players and coaches, and everyone always has a fun time there.”

“I love the Jackals because they are New Jersey’s team,” explained Anthopulos. “They are even better than the [New York] Mets and [New York] Yankees. I’m a die-hard Mets fan, but I would still much sooner go to a Jackals game than anything else.”

The huge $3,000 payout could not have come at a better time for Anthopulos and his family. With two daughters beginning college this fall, and a son graduating high school next summer, Anthopulos said he will be able to help buy books and other supplies for his children. He also plans to pay off some bills and provide some extra support for his parents.

The New Jersey Jackals released their 2009 schedule with the promise to fans that there would be something special every day this season at Yogi Berra Stadium.

"All of us in the Jackals organization are sports fans, too,” explained Larry Hall, the Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Jackals. “We're personally coping with many of the same difficulties as our fans through these tough economic times. That being said, we knew we needed to do something special this year -- something to really make a difference.”

“First and foremost, our ticket prices have stayed exactly the same as they were for the last couple of years. To make 2009 even more memorable, we have worked very hard to have something special for our fans every day of the week. In addition to the incredible 'Mortgage Monday' promotion -- which we're just so excited about -- we're giving fans the chance to 'getaway' by giving out two round-trip airline tickets on 'Flyaway Fridays,' and we've brought back our buy-one-get-one-free ticket promotion on 'Two-for-Tuesdays.'"

Fans have the chance to participate in 'Mortgage Monday' at every Monday home game, with August 10 the last chance remaining.
