CAN-AM BATTER OF THE WEEK: LESLIE HAULS IN MORE HARDWARE
The New Jersey Jackals have announced that third baseman Myron Leslie has been named the Can-Am League Player of the Week.
Leslie has recorded a hit in every game he started this week, going 9-for-21 (.429) with three home runs, seven RBI and eight runs scored in seven games. The Florida native was also chosen as the league’s June Batter of the Month.
Leslie started off the season with a .462 batting average in May and continued his stellar performance in June by hitting .367. Leslie, in his first season with the Jackals and sixth year of professional baseball, has a .268 career batting average since being drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the eighth round of the 2004 draft.
The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. The Jackals have clinched the 2009 Can-Am League first-half title and an automatic berth in the playoffs, which begin on September 9.
