JACKALS CLOSER TUCKER NAMED CAN-AM PITCHER OF THE WEEK
The New Jersey Jackals have announced that closer Rusty Tucker has been named the Can-Am League pitcher of the week. This marks the second time the left-hander has earned the award this season.
Tucker made three appearances this week, firing 3.1 scoreless frames, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out four batters and walking none. The former San Diego Padres farmhand saved all three games he pitched in, upping his league-best save total to seventeen.
The single season and career saves leader for New Jersey, Tucker is in his third season with the Jackals and is serving as the club’s pitching coach this season as well. On the season Tucker has posted a 2-0 record to go along with his seventeen saves. He has a 0.95 ERA, allowing just three earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out 32 batters and walking 6 in 28.1 innings pitched.
The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. 2009 season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 973-746-7434.
